LEARN TO SAVE ENERGY

It is not only through the improvement of equipment and machinery, better and more reliable energy sources and installations, that we can face the demands of the future. You can achieve a lot, doing very little. Be a part of the effort to make a more shinning future, taking these simple steps:

  • Turn off the lights every time you leave a room.
  • Keep your light bulbs clean. Dust reduces their capacity to illuminate.
  • Install switches so that lights can be turned on and off automatically.
  • Cover your walls with light-colored paint or wallpaper.
  • Use bulbs with the appropriate amount of watts for your needs.
  • Use natural light whenever possible.
  • Choose fluorescent lights instead of incandescent ones.
  • Outside, use sodium lights instead of mercury lights.

Regresar al indice...Heat up the water not your pocket

  • Adjust the thermostat to the minimum required (110 degrees for regular use and 140 degrees for dish washers).
  • Use cold water detergent to wash clothes and dishes.
  • Turn the water heater on 15 to 30 minutes before using the hot water. Turn it off when not in use.
  • Consider using automatic switches to turn your water heater on and off.
  • Buy the water heater according to your family size (5 gallons per person).
Regresar al indice...Freeze your bill with your refrigerator

  • Keep the cooling temperature control at the lowest possible level. Recommendation: 40 degrees for the refrigerator and no less than 0 degrees for the freezer.
  • Avoid opening the refrigerator door too frequently.
  • Make sure there is enough ventilation between the refrigerator and the doors and cabinets that surround it.
  • When you're gone on vacation, empty the refrigerator and adjust the thermostat to the minimum cooling level.
Regresar al indice...Cool your home while saving money

  • Choose the appropriate unit for your room.
  • Look for the unit with the highest energy efficiency rating (EER). An EER of 8 is considered good, while 10 or more is excellent.
  • Turn off the unit if the room will be empty for a long period of time.
  • Clean the air filter at least once a week.
  • Avoid using in your room equipment that generate heat, such as TV sets, irons, blowers and others.
  • Keep windows and doors shut.
  • Avoid curtains and plants interfering with your air conditioning unit.
